The vermilion torii gates and pale pink cherry blossoms line up to create a beautiful scene.

Takenaka Inari Shrine is a branch of Yoshida Shrine located near the top of Yoshida Mountain, near Kyoto University. Its history is unknown, but it is said to have existed during the Tencho period (824-834). It is said to be much newer, having assumed its present form in 1840.

The long approach to the shrine is lined alternately with vermilion torii gates and pale pink cherry blossoms, and the red and white colors are enchanting, as if they were made especially for this shrine. The shrine is rarely mentioned in guidebooks, making it a hidden gem, but it seems to be gaining recognition as a photogenic spot.

Visitors may also want to visit in conjunction with Yoshida Shrine, nearby Shinnyo-do Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, and the Philosopher’s Path.
