One of the most famous sites for cherry-blossom viewing spot in Osaka.
Kema Sakuranomiya park is just a few hundred meters from Osaka castle. A riverside walk streches on about 32 hectares, built on the river terrace between Kema Araizeki (overflow weir) and Temmabashi Bridge. Incorporating classical buildings such as the Mint bureau, Water Square and walking trails, the park is a good place for strolling and jogging.

The Park is filled with 4700 cherry blossom trees during the spring, which give a magical atmosphere to the urban park. A lot of food stands settle all along the river during the season. Boats sailing on the river enjoy the view on each side. People stop on the bridges to get a new perspective on the blossoms. Let’s spread out a blanket on the grass for a picnic, a drink or take a stroll through the park.

Osaka Mint bureau special openning for the cherry blossom
Late blooming cherry trees along the park, one of the best place to see in osaka. The Japan Mint in Osaka opens a passage of 560 meters long to the general public for the cherry blossom viewing. About 370 trees of over 100 varieties of cherry trees, mostly later blooming “yae-zakura” trees can be viewed for one week in mid April. The Japan Mint has been holding this traditional and seasonal event in Osaka since the end of the 19th century.
Tenjin Matsuri Festival (天神祭り)
In Summer, One of the best summer festival is on at Kema Sakuranomiya park. Enjoy the sight of 100 ships with bonfires under the fireworks. It’s the festival with the biggest number of spectators in the Kansai area.
