A variety of flowers bloom seasonally under the symbolic “Tower of the Sun” in this massive park.
Expo ’70 Commemorative Park was built on the site of the 1970 Japan World Exposition and covers 260 hectares in northern Osaka. Some Expo ’70 features remain, including the Japanese Garden and the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, while the former world pavilion sites are now forests and seasonal flower gardens.
The park is divided into five areas: the Japanese Garden, the Natural and Cultural Gardens, the Cultural Institutions area, and a sports and recreation zone. Large open lawns provide ample space for picnics, relaxation, and enjoying the seasonal flowers.
Throughout the year, a variety of blooms can be enjoyed. Plum blossoms appear in February, cherry blossoms in April, followed by tulips, roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers, irises, lotuses, and vibrant autumn colors. The Natural and Cultural Gardens feature lush forests and wide grassy fields, offering visitors a peaceful natural environment to unwind.
