Hirano Shrine has been a famous cherry blossom viewing spot since the end of the Heian period.
In addition to Somei-Yoshino, 400 cherry trees of about 50 varieties are planted in the grounds, where visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms for about a month every year. The cherry garden and grounds are lit up with atmospheric lanterns.
