Yawata is a home to Iwashimizu hachimangu Shrine on the top of Mt. Otokoyama in the south part of Kyoto Prefecture, a sacred ground where three large rivers meet. You can enjoy a rural area to explore in a beautiful autumn day.
Access from Osaka/ Kyoto
Take the Keihan main line to Iwashimizu-Hachimangu station (Yawata-city), and then a short walk to the cable car station and take the cable car.
1. Mt. Otokoyama (男山)
You can enjoy the magnificent scenery of Katsura River, Uji River, and Kizu River join together with the beauty of autumn colors from the cable car.

2. Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu Shrine (石清水八幡宮)
One of the three great Hachiman-gu Shrines of Japan, is located on the top of Mt. Otokoyama. The approach and around the main hall are colored by red and yellow leaves. You can also enjoy the contrast of bright red maple laeves and green bamboo forest.

3. Zenporitsu-ji (善法律寺)
The maple trees planted on the grounds are believed that the mother of the shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu donated. Nearly 100 maple trees are colored in autumn.

4. Jinnou-ji Temple (神應寺)
There are large trees of Japanese maple trees in the precincts, and the autumn leaves on the stone steps of the approach are also wonderful.
