Hashioki is a small object placed on the table to prevent your chopsticks from rolling off your plate and coming into contact with the dirty table. They are usually ceramic and very often cutely-designed. It’s a collectable item: you can find a variety of shapes and patterns in souvenir shops and department stores. If you don’t often use chopsticks, you could use them as interesting ornaments or paper weights!
