Within Nijo Castle‘s grounds, there are approximetaly 300 cherry trees of late blooming varieties in a cherry orchard. The special night illumination is on during the bloom.

Spring at Nijo Castle, where 300 cherry trees of about 50 varieties bloom. The castle and its buildings are fantastically lit up during the annual spring illumination, and various events are also held.
