SUMMARY:Kishiwada Danjiri Festival ”だんじり”
DESCRIPTION:The Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri in Kishiwada City\, southern Osaka\, is one of Japan’s largest and most famous danjiri festivals. \n\n\n\nAt the heart of the festival are enormous traditional wooden floats\, known as danjiri\, intricately carved and decorated with elaborate ornaments. Designed in the style of shrines or temples\, some floats are so large that they require teams of up to 500 people to pull them through the streets. \n\n\n\nThe festival’s most thrilling spectacle is the high-speed procession through Kishiwada’s narrow streets. Standing atop each danjiri is the daiku-gata\, the person responsible for directing the float. As the team races forward\, the daiku-gata performs an energetic dance\, leaping and moving to the rhythm of the music while urging the team on. Their daring performance is one of the festival’s most unforgettable highlights. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanjiri Festival（だんじり祭り）\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nViewing Spots \n\n\n\nKonarazaka : 2\, Kishiwada\, Osaka 596-0072 \n\n\n\nKishiki Shrine : 11-30 Kishikicho\, Kishiwada\, Osaka 596-0073 \n\n\n\nKishiwada-Tenjingu Shrinne : 1 Chome-13-15 Besshocho\, Kishiwada\, Osaka 596-0045 \n\n\n\nAccess : 10-minute walk from Kishiwada station on the Nankai main line \n\n\n\nAdmission : Free \n\n\n\nSEP 14 : 6:00 to 22:00 \n\n\n\nSEP 15 : 9:00 to 22:00
