Mass growth of green bamboo expand in a tranquil park throughout the year.
Rakusai Chikurin Bamboo Park「洛西竹林公園」, located in Rakusai region, south-west of Arashiyama, is one of the few bamboo botanical parks in the world. You can see beautiful bamboo forest without the crowds like the popular Arashiyama’s bamboo forest.
Rakusai region is a suburb with a lot of agriculture, and famous for its mass growth of bamboo. You can enjoy strolling “Take-no-michi”, 1.8 km long, nice winding paths along both side of bamboo forest approaching to the park. The park has wide varieties of bamboo, and a small museum of the bamboo history in Japan. You can purchase some handcrafts made of bamboo in the museum. There is also a well designed Japanese garden with 200 different spiecies of bamboo next to the museum.

Access : From Katsura Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line, take a bus No. 3 or 8「西３、西８系統」 to Minami-fukunishicho bus stop, and 5-minute walk from there.

The path of bamboo candle night event “かぐやの夕べ”, about 4,000 water candles along the Take-no-michi paths and Rakusai Chikurin Bamboo Park will be lit up in the evening to create a magical atmosphere with mass growth of bamboo forest. Some markets, musical concert will be takes place as well.
