Japanese Capsule Hotels are an inexpensive way to spend a night in Japan. A compact capsule-style space is roughly as wide and as long as a single bed. If you’re claustrophobic, you’re not going to enjoy them. Generally there is a bedding set, Lighting and outlets for your electronics, a ventilation fan and sometimes there’s a radio or TV.

Each capsules are stacked side by side in rows normally with one unit on top of the other. You use steps to get to the top capsule. Your luggage is stored in a separate locker. The capsule is sealed with a door or a curtain and bathroom facilities are normally shared.

You can find capsule hotels all over Japan, and they range from plastic capsules in a sci-fi setting to comfortable sleeping mini-rooms with a window and a view.
